Hi everyone,

I wanted to make a thread for all those who are taking the DAT this Sept 10th. Maybe we can encourage each other. Those who's studied 3months hardcore, and those who are going to have 7days to start the study. It all depends on who you are and how much time you need to put in.

Lets log in our hrs that we put in today so others can see how much we put in for the week before the test.

Years, months, -whatevers, we have 7days now. Put your game face on!

Good luck to you too Ms.Dentista. I know you'll do great since you've started this in May. Looks like there's only 3 of us taking it on the 10th so far. I'm so tired. Labor day weekend was not good to me at all. Today was productive, I want this test over too, but at the same time I wished there was one more week so that I could imprint all these infromantion and answers in my head.

We now only need one hand to count down the days. Yikes, but we can do it. Too close to give up. I just bought Top Score at 2PM today and they still haven't emailed me the code.

Make sure you go to your test early in case of traffic, and don't take the test ealier if they offer you a spot when you're there.

You're better off taking that time to build confidence, take in some O2, review some formulas, just relax. Your mind has mentally prepared itself to take it at a certian time b/c you've prob been waiting all this time to take it at 12noon (or the time you signed up) no?

I'd just get there early in case there's some accident or grid lock on the freeway and take it at the time I signed up for.

I'm sure you're good to go. Some say third time's the charm right?
This will be my first test, I'm a bit nervous. There's still so much I need to cover with the time left.

Hey! I am taking it for the third time also! Is this your first time applying? I made and 18AA both times, so I am hoping for a much higher score. Good luck guys! And thanks Toshiba for being so positive.🙂

No this will be my second time applying.....I am only trying to get in my state school at the moment.....If I dont have luck this time around I will start looking out of state.

My state school didn't even look at anyone with under an 18AA last year so I kinda knew I wasnt gonna get in.

Man! What state are you in? I am applying for the second time as well. Last year I had three interviews, and was waitlisted at all 3. Now I feel like since is my 3rd time taking it, I have blow the test out of the water to prove that I can do well. Do you feel like this too? Hopefully everything will turn out OK for us.🙂

Louisiana.....LSU is the only dental school in the state. They take 55 from in state and 5 from out of stae. For some reason or another it has gotten very competitve over the past couple of years. I think last year was the best incoming class they have had....average DAT was 20.6AA and average GPA around a 3.7 Funny thing is I have friends who go in 3 years ago with 16AA on the DAT and a 3.3 - 3.4 GPA.

im in the same boat as u guys, 3rd time around, 2nd time applying....hopefully all works well. UMDNJ is the only state school for me too 🙁

Hey everyone,

I getting very worried and nervous, I know its bad to count down the days, but I can't help it. With 3 days to go and this being my first time taking the test, I do not feel ready at all. I'm really behind schedule. I'm going to have to cram everything in these last 3 days, and I still have to take the Topscore and DAT Acheiver I just bought. There is too much to do with too little time. I am way behind my schedule, all this was suppose to have begun on Tuesday.
I feel like I should post-pone to give my self a better prepared stated. On the other hand, who knows what these 3 days could do, I just want to get it over with. Everyone's counting on me taking it on Monday, they don't understand the pressure we face. It's taken up my entier summer and life.

Advice? Support? Cautions?

My test is on the 10th as well....:scared: I am reviewing Ochem right now! I want to finish Ochem and Bio tonight so I can do gchem and math tomorrow. I don't want to study on Sunday😀!

I would say do everything on TopScore and do the PAT on the Acheiver. Then if you have more time do the rest of Achiever. Don't worry you'll do fine.
I was going to push my test back a week or so...but I just want to get it over with😱

Hey rosydaisy,

I was just doing the same thing! I did the bio, but never got to the gchem b/c I was taking a Kaplan test. I didn't break 15 on anything except PAT. crap crap crap. I am really shaken up. With no time and all those test I need to take, theres no time to learn. I really messed up this first time around.

Hope you all did better, and get in this time around.

I am still commited to the 10th, might as well, though another 3days would maybe give me 3more points, maybe.

I don't wanna scare anyone but just to pre-warn you guys.

I took my first DAT on last April. Found out that test centers no longer offer paper for scratch paper. They give out laminated paper and dry marker. And those dry markers are not even thin. Make sure to cap it while you are reading the question. It dried up pretty quick. Of course they give you about 3 of them. However, for QR questions, sometimes it takes more than 1 page of calculations to complete the question. Meaning you have to keep ereasing it during the exam. Not very efficient test method, I think. I purchased similar dry markers and make own laminated papers to practice this time. I just hope that I'm better prepared for exam which I will probably take during Oct.

On the dry-erase note, some test centers still do paper...make sure u call and ask! I've been practicing w/ the dry-erase and it's not that awful, u get used to it...and I was strictly a pencil person too!!!

Also, the laminated paper is double sided...

I asked center and they told me that it's nation wide laminated papers. Also, I don't think you can get hold of phone # of the testing centers. At least, I wasn't able to locate one yet.

Get the Testing center's addy, copy paste it in your google browser, the first thing on the list should be your testing center with their # underneath.

The best time to call them is at 8 according to ADA, but I called mine up at 3 and talked bugged them with all my questions for about 15 minutes!!

Trying to locate the # shouldnt be that difficult.

Hi eveyone,

Thanks for making good use of this thread, and thanks to all those who have wished up good luck on our test tomorrow.

This is it. No more time to be learning new things or anything else. At this point you either know it or you don't. I'm tired. Going to have dinner, and then sleeping at 12..only b/c I know I can't sleep any earlier thinking about this thing, maybe 1AM realisticly.

Maybe we can start a Sept 10th group of wtf happend after the day, and where we landed.

Good luck to you all and good luck to me. Can't feel that bad if you gave this your best, and everything requires a bit of luck... so no worries.

nah. I'm going to go submit my apps tonight or tomorrow.. have to retype the personal statment, i copy and pasted but they said its over, but i'm positive word has it correct with the counting. Then I'm going to drink... or read... I came home and there was a book "Chicken soup for the dental Soul" on my pillow. nice gift. 🙂

well.....I rescheduled to take it on Thursday. This is the last time I can take it, and I wanted to feel 100% ready. I think I am about as ready as I can ever be...so I will get back to everybody after Thursday🙂
