Dat Spots Taken

Well i have a concern and wanted to see if it is a big deal or not.

I live in northern Illinois and went to go register for the DAT. I wanted to take it in mid August so that i could get my applications out by September.

But lo and behold all spots in all of Illinois with prometric were full through SEPTEMBER! meaning i would have to take it in October, really setting me behind. I also checked Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, and Wisconsin and all of them had the same results.

Does this really hinder my chances? Do i miss out and the first round application reviews? My top choices for schools were UIC SIU and Marquette.

Any advice and or information would be greatly appreciated.

Fly to other states if you can. At the center where I took mine (in Southern California), you can even sign up for tomorrow. 👍

yeah how are they all full?...in Arizona I could choose from 5 time slots a day for tomorrow through the next 4 months. I took a long while choosing mine because they were all open

I'm from Northwest Indiana (Crown Point) and I'm taking mine at the Prometric center in Merrillville, IN on July 11th. If you don't mind the drive, I'm almost positive there will be a spot available for whichever date you plan on taking the DAT. Merrillville isn't too far from Chicago, about 45 min's or so; thus, depending on how close you live to Chicago it shouldn't be that far of a drive. I would make sure you've looked into all your options before you opt for taking the DAT in October. Best of luck!

I just checked a few more states, and Arizona is also completely booked up until October. There are slots for like July 9 and 10 here and there, but i'm by no means ready for the test. And that is just too soon.

I am from Merrillville, Indiana. I just rescheduled my exam yesterday for a few days and there are A TON of spots available in August for the Merrillville location.

I find it hard to believe.... these many cities with more than 1 prometric center are all booked?

yeah so do I as I only scheduled in Arizona 2 weeks ago and there were hundreds of spots open at the one site I scheduled at and there are 6 more in the State. Hopefully you are going about the site correctly...

Hmm, well maybe there is something wrong with my account for registration. I'm gana call them today and hopefully get things cleared up.

Best thing to do is check everyday for cancellations. People are always shifting from one day to another. Or like someone has already said, fly to another state. Heck, I'm flying to Guam in a week for the DAT. (Only, b/c I am in Korea for the summer!)😀

Yeah there must be a problem with whatever you are looking at. I just looked at the locations in Illinois and EVERY location has at least one spot available. Most have pretty much every day available.
