I never posted a breakdown when I finished my DAT because mine would've just been what basically everyone else says as far as materials and how I studied. BUT -- I've never seen anyone mention these things in their breakdowns, so here goes. One of the most important things I did while studying for the DAT was rid myself of anything that could possibly be a distraction.

For some, this may not be a problem, but if you're distracted (even for short moments), then I would recommend taking the same steps I did:
  • I deleted all social media apps from my phone (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter...etc.)
  • While I was studying, I would put my phone on Airplane or Do Not Disturb mode.
  • Probably most importantly, I put a program on my computer called SelfControl (http://selfcontrolapp.com). SelfControl is an app that allows you to enter websites and a specific amount of time you want those websites blocked. Once you enter this information, nothing you do (deleting the app, restarting your computer, etc.) will undo this action until time runs out and that's what is so great about it. I entered pretty much any website I would use and get distracted on (Same social media as above, YouTube, Reddit, news, even SDN, you name it). If it is unrelated to the DAT and you use it frequently, block it.
    • Side note: SDN CAN be a distraction. It may not seem that way because it's "beneficial" and "DAT related" but honestly once you've read 5-10 breakdowns, you've read them all. And right before your DAT, all reading really high scores will do is make you more anxious and put more pressure on you to perform at the level of others. Spend your time studying instead of reading about studying.
Like I said above, this may not be a problem for you, but I look back and I had absolutely nothing to turn to during the days that I was studying except DAT subjects, which was extremely beneficial in the end. I feel strongly that eliminating these things led to the excellent DAT score that ultimately got me an acceptance.
