DAT studying

Hi Guys,

So I am registered to take the DAT on August 12 and I haven't been studying very seriously. I have about 4 weeks left and I am submitting my application this coming week.

Should I reschedule my DAT ? Is it possible to study in 4 weeks and get a good score (aiming for 20+)?

Thanks in advance!
That is a lofty goal, a lot depends on how much time you can dedicate each day and how much studying you have done to this point. Are you a strong student with a good GPA and good foundation?

It is doable, but a lot depends on you and not a question easily answered.

I have these 4 weeks free and I was planning on just studying all day everyday till my DAT. I have a strong foundation in biology and orgo, the only thing I struggle with is chemistry and math

I'm not Ari and I don't work for him (lol) but I'd DEFINITELY recommend using DAT Bootcamp especially if you're in a pinch of time. It's not perfect (I personally don't like the bio section) but all the sections except the PAT mirror the actual DAT.

Have you started studying for the PAT? That section throws off a lot of people - I'd strongly suggest getting started ASAP since the 2009 practice DAT is much harder than today's DAT, IMO.

BTW it's been 4-5 years since I was in undergrad and I studied the DAT for only a month and got 20+ AA and PAT, so it's definitely possible. Just study EVERY FREAKING DAY starting from now for at least 3-5 hours a day.

Edit: spelling error

If you have a strong foundation that's definitely enough time to do well, in my opinion.
Study, take a practice test, and evaluate where you're at. Impossible for us to say if that will work for you without any practice test scores.

Granted you yourself took two weeks to study if I am not mistaken?

I've been studying for a month and it's not looking to good for me, and my test is Aug. 17. I might move it up, depending on how I'm doing in a couple of weeks.
It really does depend on you, I put in a lot of hours a day, but not sure if I'm not studying effectively, or I'm just a slow learner...or what the dealio is but start hitting the books hard and see how you feel in 2-3 weeks. Just make sure, if you need to change your test date, do it within 7 BUSINESS days that way you can pay $60 as opposed to $100 if you wait longer.

Cheers!

I took about 4 weeks when I was studying for the DAT! You have to really buckle down and commit though. I think I studied from morning until night, every day. I took a day or two break to "review" my notes. Then about two weeks before my test, I started taking practice tests (8 total). Those helped a lot in determining if I was close to being "ready" or not.
