DAT taken 5/1/09

I am a first time user here. I just finished the DAT and scored:
PAT-18
Bio-19
gen chem-20
org chem-22
RC-18
QR-16
TS-20
AA-19

I have a GPA of 3.5 and a science of 3.3. Should I retake the DAT or do I have a good shot at getting in for the 2010 cycle?

Congrats, those are nice scores. Your GPA is good as well, I probably wouldnt retake if I was you.

What books/tests did you use to study for the sciences?

apply early and i think you should be fine. you have competitive scores, just a little low qr but thats everyone's lowest it seems like. good luck. what did you use to study sciences?

thanks for the feedback. I used the DAT DESTROYER for the sciences and then I used the Kaplan DAT book. I also used TOP SCORE PRO for practice tests. I really didn't dedicate enough time to the PAT, RC, and QR. I think that I was just focused on my sciences. I am applying to a bunch of schools, but some of them are BU, tuffts, temple, Midwestern, Louisville, USC, Case, and UOP. I hope my stats are good enough for those schools.

I have pretty much identical scores except with a 23 RC and 3.6 GPA and I'm not going to retake. I plan on applying very early.

Based on predents, I would say you have a really good shot at some of those schools you named. I think that you should consider retaking if you have the time. Only because your QR can be improved and then you might have a better shot at your state school. But you should be happy!!

I was doing ok on top score pro. On the math portion I never got below an 18. (I panicked in the real thing) I was getting 18's and 19's on my sciences. I thought the DAT was easier than TOP score pro on gen chem and o chem. there is just so much bio! I thought the PAT was a pretty good example of what I saw. The DAT destroyer really helped me on all of the sciences. On RC I was getting between 18-21. I think I was worn out for reading and math at the end during the actual DAT.
