I know people have asked this before but my goodness, is it normal to be doubting myself this late in the game? I'm taking my exam this Friday and I have approximately 16 hours to reschedule.. I'm really debating whether I should move it back 3-4 days (it would have to be a 7:30 am exam). I've gone through destroyer, chads, cliffs, CDP, etc. and I've gone through a ridiculous amount of studying but even still, I don't feel confident. I've ESPECIALLY been struggling on ORGO such as my last 2 QDATVAULT orgo tests (7th, 8th exam) and even Topscore (19-20).

The fricken datqvault questions are starting to make me confused like... "hm... does NaOH go through SN2 or E2? Oh, NaOH is a great base... E2 for sure! wtf... SN2?? it's a secondary halide..what?" , "Birch Reduction, wtf?????", "Bayer-Villager Oxidation, wtf x2??", and "peroxide is an initiator for Radical Equations? wtf??"

Agh. Fml. What do I do, what do i dooooooooooo?

I don't think its even possible to feel "comfortable" going in to take the DAT I'm sure you'll do better than you think. Good Luck

I think you're just maximizing your stress everytime you miss something because it's so close to your test. Just breathe and try to learn from it, it doesn't matter if you miss it now, just as long as you dont miss it on the DAT. Also I kind of wish I had just bought the qvault for Bio, I'm not really impressed with the GC/OC sections, they aren't TEACHING me as well as Destroyer and Chad.

I am struggling with the same questions

especially the one with NaOH with secondary halide

so you have 1-bromo-2-methylcyclohexane reacting with NaOH in H2O

and of course it is secondary and NaOH is a strong base, I thought it would be E2 not Sn2
where the correct answer is Sn2...lol... I am freaking out with orgo....

can somebody explain me why it is Sn2 not E2?

Exactly.. AND its a protic solvent. There are some other ones too. It's confusing me more than it's helping me, honestly. And yeah n27, I see what you're saying... bio's been helpful!

Strong base and strong Nuc (NaOH)
Me, 1°= SN2
3°,2°= E2

Thank you so much for posting this! I feel just like you! I think it's completely normal to doubt yourself but if you think you need the extra time then go for it. i have a lot of friends who rescheduled the DAT because they were not ready and it was the best decision they made.

I was actually reduced to tears today because I suck at basic math and I couldn't get through Math destroyer....but I have to believe we all feel this way. Thanks for sharing, let us know how you do!

i couldn't find the link, it's from chad's supplementary notes, i think he might have posted it in a forum topic, but i couldn't find it so i just took a picture of mine.

Haha thanks, I'm really glad you can relate. I rescheduled for June 25th so it'll give me a few extra days to just get myself together and thoroughly go through everything one last time. I'm not sure when you're taking your DAT but don't worry too much about math! Make sure to go over Chad's videos, KBB, math destroyer, etc. and just practice. Maybe even master like everything aside from TRIG (which I hate) and just know the basic trig stuff. AT WORST, come test day, I would honestly just skip over ones you don't know how to do on the actual exam and just hope for the best. But that's like a last LAST resort thing... so don't go in with that mindset, and you don't want to skip too many, haha.

n27s, thanks for putting the time to scan the picture! I guess.. the datqvault question really sucked because usually when you have a secondary halide and you use -OR or -OH reactant with H2O solvent (which is a PROTIC SOLVENT) you would normally do E2 (based on chads videos/destroyer). However, the answer choice said the reaction would go via SN2... and didn't really give a good reason (aka did not help me learn). I highly doubt they would put anything on the exam that's not clearly E2 or clearly SN2 (unless they ask for minor and major products) so whatever 😀.

Five days should be plenty of time to do some last minute studying and get your confidence up. I am taking my test july 5th but am going to move it back...maybe by two weeks? I'll take my first top score test tomorrow to get a better idea on how much time I need. Thank you for encouraging me! haha, I posted to help you out but it ended up being the other way around 🙂 good luck, before you know it you'll be posting on how awesome you did on the DAT!
