Hello SDN people
I started studying for this damn test 3 months ago. and I knew I would screw up on my RC, cause its my second language. I tried CDR and Topscore, but for some reasons never got higher than 16-17. So I gave it up and was like It should be fine

here are my scores 🙁

I have a gpa of 3.7 and shadowed 2 different dentists ( more than 140 hrs). I am also doing research through my undergraduate school on Oral cancer and dental caries. CA resident. I have done tutoring, and community services too.

What do u you guys think? Should I go ahead an apply this cycle for schools that dont have RC cut off , should i wait apply next year, or should I retake the DAT 🙁( Damn this RC !!!
School choices are USC, Western, Loma linda, UCLA, pacific and other out of states dental school.
Please help . I wish I could write better scores here, if just damn RC

My personal opinion is that you should apply. You have one blemish in your RC score, but what seems like an otherwise very solid record. It's not the RC that concerns be so much as how late in the cycle you want to apply. G'luck with whatever you do!

You should be fine. Your scores and GPA make you a solid applicant at the schools you selected. I sympathize with you about the RC. I had the same issue. Let us just cyber hold hands and pray for the best. Come to think of it, this application process has made me a more spiritual and godly person.

I honestly worked really hard, total of 98 days and more than 800 hours of studying. I dont know why do they emphasize on RC alot, I worked hard during my academic years, graduated with a good GPA, worked hard to get into a research regarding dentistry. You dont know how hard it was to get into this program. My mentor is a UCLA school of dentistry board member and the only one that is doing research in dental manners. If they wanna avoid all these and reject my application just because i cant READ then ...........

Okay, let us talk - no one rejected you yet! In fact, you would make a great candidate. You seem very passionate and driven. Also, you took great initiative to prove your interest in dentistry through research and shadowing. Dental schools will notice this. You obviously know how to read since you posted on SDN. None of this is sugar coating, all of what I mentioned is reality. Do NOT think negatively or you worries will consume you alive. Are you applying this cycle?

Thank you very much for your support, really appreciated. yes I am going to give it a shot this cycle. I called my top 2 choices and asked them about this, and they said that I need to apply. USC has a cut off of 15 and western doesnt have a cut off and they said that my EC's activity and GPA might cover it up.
