I am taking the DAT tomorrow. I wanted to know if you guys have any last minute tips on how to be best prepared for this exam? I have couple questions, if anyone could please answer them.
1. Is there a highlighter option (like BC has) in the RC section?
2. How was test compared to BC?
3. How was the check-in process? Are we allowed to take our phones and put them in the locker?
4. Can we use the keyboard for the calculator?
5. How early should I be at my testing center?

(SORRY for too many questions)

1. There is a highlighter option on the DAT. It's just like BC.
2. In my opinion, the test is comparable to BC. I did a little bit better in GC and OC on the DAT than BC but it can go both ways.
3. The check-in process differs for each prometric center. Some are a bit more strict than others, especially with jewelry! Otherwise, check-in is pretty smooth. If you bring anything into the center it will all have to be stored in a locker (including phones).
4. YES! I didn't realize this until a few questions in but the keyboard CAN be used. Most of the keyboards have the numeric pad as well so you can easily key in +-/* along with the numbers. It definitely helped me with my speed. And be careful on the QR section, it's doable but it's all about timing.
5. Go as early as you feel comfortable. I went 45 minutes early and got to start 15 minutes earlier. Some centers will start you when you arrive if they have computers available.

Best tip is do what you feel comfortable doing. Some people take it easy the day before and some people (like me) study until the exam. Good luck and do try to stay calm and relax during the exam. 🙂

1. yes
2. i think it was similar, bio was easier (less detailed questions), chem (less math questions, none required solving for my test), ochem (same), PAT (easier) reading (bit easier), qr (easier because more QC, i had no trig)
3. for check-in, you read this sheet w the rules and then put everything in a locker, go get fingerprints, pics, security stuff, get ur materials and then u start the test. during the 30 min break u can check ur phone
4. idk, i didn't try but i think you should be able to
5. i got there 20 min early and they had me start my test asap, i think 15 min is good. if u are the type to get nervous get there earlier and do the 15 min tutorial in the beginning to calm urself

Thank you so much guys! So the 15 min tutorial doesn't take time away from the sciences?
I am wondering if they actually rook out trig or not, hope they did.

What do you pics, do we have to take photos there? or do we bring our own pictures?
How about the noise? how was it?
Did you use noise cancelling headphones

They just take a pic of u with a small camera they have. They do all the security stuff so you don't have to worry about anything except bringing ur 2 ids.
I brought earplugs and then i put the noise canceling headphones on, on top of the earplugs. The noise wasn't bad, I could hear myself sniffling but nothing else. I like complete silence so thats why I double layered it. If anything, bring a jacket because it was cold.

I am trying to buy something similar to this noise cancelling, but I don't know what type they use.
Was it uncomfortable?

Nope, the 15 min tutorial doesn't take time away. There is a box that comes up and says something like here is a tutorial, you have 15 min to go over it. However once you click to go on to the sciences (aka end the 15 min tutorial), there are more tutorials which does take time away so skip those.

No, i was too focused on the DAT to notice if it was but you can adjust them to fit ur head. I would call in advance to see if you can bring ur own noise canceling out headphones for security/cheating reasons. The earplugs i brought were from a new unopened pack and I opened them in front of the secretary person.

Is this true, that in addition to the intro tutorial there is a tutorial before each new section that takes time away from the test if you do not skip them?

so how much time the tutorials take to skip. That sucks lol!
It's only one click. Beware though, if you choose to do the PAT in a different order, it does take a while to skip to where you want to start (there is some lag from switching screen to screen, and also clicking through 30 questions to get to angles takes like a 45sec-1min).

You can just use the review button to skip to where you want to go. That's what I did on my exam.

Really? I thought bootcamp said we couldn't unless we had already answered everything? I usually start with hole punching, finish then go to keyholes. If we can use the review button then that's one less thing I have to freak out about!

I definitely used the review button to skip to angles --> cubes --> pattern --> TFE --> keyholes. The review button is there, it's just not as simple to use as the BC one. I remember that single clicking on the number I wanted to skip to didn't work but double clicking did.
