Hey guys,

How long does the DAT score is valid and can be used in AADSAS?

I took my test yesterday... do I need to contact the AADSAS to make sure that they got my application?

Is it a good idea to contact the schools just to let them know that I have taken my DAT and give them the scores prior to their getting the report?

Thanks!

I think most want DAT scores no longer than 3 years ago. Might want to check with each individual school though. I'm not sure how many this applies to.

What application? It's going to take AADSAS 2-3 weeks to verify your scores.

I would contact the schools to let them know that you just took it. Some may have you fax over your unofficial score, others may just wait until the official comes in through AADSAS.

I did well man thank god but my GPA is the only kinda negative thing in my application... hope they will focus on my last year and the coming senior year and ignore my freshman year which was really bad for some reasons I explained in my application!

Seems like most schools let you use them for 3 years. However, when does that 3 year date end.

I took my test jan 27th, 2011 and am planning on applying this upcoming cycle (june 3rd, 2013). Three years=jan 27th, 2014 so does that mean mine will be valid or not?

A few schools I applied to had a two year cutoff, so make sure you call each school if it's not stated on their website.

you remember which ones had the 2 year cutoff?

These are the schools I'm applying to:

MWU Az(3)
MWU Illinois(3)
ASDOH(3)
WESTERN(3)
USC(3)
UOP(2)
LECOM
BU(2)
TUFTS(3)
MINN(3)
NYU(3)
CASE WESTERN(3)
UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE(2)
UNIVERSITY OF DETROIT MERCY(2)
TEMPLE(2)
Roseman(3)

Seems like most let you use 3 year old tests but there are a few that are sticklers.

The score is valid for three years. And I think there is no need to contact AADSAS as they will obtain your official DAT scores directly from the American Dental Association's Testing Services Center and will import them directly into your application. And Official scores are reported electronically to the dental schools you select on your DAT application. So, there is no need to contact personally.

The ADA considers the DAT valid for 3 years however, each school is different. From my research most schools consider them valid the entire 3 years but there are some that only accept DAT's that are 2 years or younger.
