DAT without Ochem 2

Wanted to hear your feedback if you had taken the DAT if you would take it without having taken Ochem 2. I am planning on studying +/- 6 hrs a day for three weeks during Christmas Break but im not sure if i should hold off until spring semester Ochem 2 is done before taking the DAT. Let me know what you think or if you remember how much of the OC section covered the second semester mat.

dat destroyer roadmap will help you get around 20 if you know the IRs and NMRs..

This is a good question. I have to take Organic II also, and am planning on taking it Spring 2010 (Jan-May). I am also planning on applying to dental school in June 2010.

When should I take the DAT? Should I wait until after I've completed Organic II, which ends in May? Or, should I take the DAT prior to June while I'm taking Organic II? Thanks!

Well it depends... I would say if you learned what HNMR, IR, E1E2SN1SN2 then you should be good. but i do recommend orgo 2 if you are having trouble memorizing reactions or understanding how electrons move around etc... B/c you memorize so many reactions in orgo 2 that all the reactions seem familiar and follow similar patterns... so even if you do not know what it is you can guess pretty good what the answer is. Kaplan book has ~100 reactions which are really good and show up. There is this prof. in north deokoata has organic chem 341 reactions listed also look thorugh them no need to memroize. there are 2 files i couldn't find them but if you do just review them no need to memorize them but memorize all the kaplan reactions. and you will be golden. OHh yeah VERrrry verry imp. WATCH chads VIDEOS FOR ORGANIC CHEMISTRY they are exactly whats on the test.

Okay, I'm a noob...but who is this Chad and where can I watch these videos? I've read several posts that said to watch his videos, and I've searched the forum but can't seem to find them! 🙄

That's good to know about IR and NMR, we skipped those two chapters in my ochem I class. We went over it in lab but not really in depth.

It should be doable if you have Destroyer and OC textbook on the side + Chad Video. I took DAT 5 years after taking OC 1 and 2, so basically I had to catch up from almost nothing.
