I'm going back to grad school as a non-degree major to finish the pre-reqs necessary (chems and orgos) for the DAT. This will take me 4 additional semesters starting this Fall, when should I start studying for the DAT which I will probably take at the end of those 2 years?

Look up the D-schools you plan to apply to and see what pre-reqs are needed for those schools.
Most schools have pre-reqs as the same (G-chem,o-chem etc)

As far as studying for DAT. I would say studying 2-3 months before your Test should be sufficient depending on how much time you invest in it within those 3 months.

Look up some of the study schedules people have made for the DAT on sdn and see if you can follow them.
its def no point studying 2 yrs in advance cause you mite end up forgetting them.

If you're going to study over the summer 2 solid months will be plenty.

If you're going to study for the DAT while you are still in school, 3 months minimum because I doubt you'll be able to spare more than a couple hours a day. (Not saying anything about your work ethic...just that pre-reqs tend to be fairly rigorous courses)

Once you're done with O-chem you can take the DAT at any point (you can take it before, but you'll have to teach yourself an awful lot of O-chem!). O chem implies that you've already done Bio 101 types and gen chem so this would be the best time. You would be prepared for all the parts of the DAT's science section.
