whats a good competitive DAT score? and how are the sections broken up?

20 on the Academic Average and Total Science is competitive and a 19 on the Perceptual is pretty good as well. There's a section for: biology, gen chem, organic chem, reading comprehension, math, and perceptual ability. Buy the Kaplan blue book...its a great way to prepare and has a couple practice tests to get you ready (be warned, the Kaplan PAT is quite a bit easier than the real thing). Good luck and PM if you have any other questions.

a competitive DAT is 20+ on all sections... notice my stats im retaking the test. its broken down into Bio, Gen Chem, O Chem, Quantitative Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, and Perceptual Ability (PA). You Academic Average (AA) is all scores but the PAT and the Total Science (TS) is Bio, Gen Chem, and O Chem.

I def would agree about the Kaplan PAT... i took the course, and was scoring 18-19 on Kaplan PAT practice tests. im using Barron's and PAT Achiever for my 2nd attempt. hopefully i can pull 20s in all sections. good luck.

Barron's was good for the PAT, they had some better strategies than Kaplan and it was nice to just have some extra practice problems besides Kaplans dumbed down ones. Be careful though, because Barron's is full of errors on their practice test keys.

Great combination of study guides! Barron tells you basic strategies while DAT Achiever will challenge your perceptual ability to the greatest limit. I'm sure you're going to improve your scores using these tools!

aim for 20s on average across the board. anywhere from 18s and up will serve you well. if you get lower than 17 in any section, retake your DAT!

I would say that it is not a must to retake the DAT if you score lower than a 17 on any one section. I know people that have already gotten multiple acceptances with 16 and even 15 on the QR. I would say the cut off would be closer to the 15-16 range on any one section. Like if you score a 19 on the AA, but get a 16 on the QR, I would say that you are still fine. The most important part is the AA and the SA!!!

I tend to agree you with you Diddy. The AA and SA are by far the most important.

What is SA? Do you mean TS (Total Science)
