Hello everyone, I just took the dat:

TS: 29
PA: 28
RC: 25
QR: 28

My GPA is a 3.9... I'm pretty happy with my scores. I know I could have dominated the RC, but I wasn't in this country for the last 4 years. I actually took the DAT on Wednesday. I was planning on applying to Harvard, but my last publication in JOC was 5 years ago. I have about 3000 hrs of Dental experience, but again that ended in 2004 . I served in the Peace Corps after I graduated from Berkeley so I am a little outdated. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks

Dental assisting? I thought I was clear in my post, I'm sorry maybe I should repeat myself for you... I have already done 3000hrs of dental experience: 1000 as an assistant and 2000 as a lab tech.

I subscribed to this website because I need serious advice. Again I have been away from the states for the last 4 yrs, and I am not updated.

Thank you. I honestly learned a lot from classes as a undergrad, and kept amazing notes. I got a degree in Biochemistry and my research was in organic chemistry. I often reviewed my notes while serving. On the other hand, I love to read so the RC wasn't too bad. I think reading scientific reviews helped me a lot. I purchased crack the DAT as well as other full practice tests from the internet. Kaplans keyhole section is better than Crack the DATs (my opinion). I also would have a buddy of my make a series of 4 angles with a protractor that were 3 degrees apart (a total of 200 questions made on angles). The PAT was pretty bad. My eyes hurt like hell (excuse my language) after the DAT.

No Harvard advice, just wanted to congratulate you on your awesome performance. Funny how a 25 in RC can look so low next to the other scores. Finished Berkeley in 2005 (MCB) also and will be taking the DAT in a few weeks. 3000 hrs experience is nothing to sneeze at, but compared to the rest of your qualifications, its starting t look like your 25 in RC too. The reason people don't believe you is because you are essentially telling us you have the highest DAT scores in the country and you say "I'm pretty happy with my scores" lol. When you saw your scores, you should have noticed the 100th percentile next to the academic average (which is likely 29) because that's exactly what it should have said (http://www.ada.org/prof/ed/testing/dat/dat_users_manual.pdf) check out page 33 with test score breakdowns.


You went to Berkely, have publications, were in the Peace Corps, and have a 3.9 and you want to know what advice everyone else can give you to get into dental school? I'm sorry, but it's hard to believe the most qualified applicant in the country is asking for help on SDN...

Those are some great scores. As far as advice goes... I would just say try to know your audience. This is especially important at interviews. Maybe read a few threads on the interview process and what interview admins are looking for from an applicant who they already deem academically qualified.

People here are just a bit surprised about you bursting onto the scene with very high scores and acting as if you're still just a bit disappointed because your English is rusty. If you'd read a few threads about DAT scores you could have easily predicted people's reactions to this post and then modified it to look a bit more charitable. Maybe offering people advice on the relevance of biochemistry to the DAT, since it seems to be your area of expertise, and also asking for advice about the application process which is more involved than just getting high marks.

seems like you have too much time on your hands to make an account on SDN and post fake scores. I would like proof. if you could please scan your unofficial score report from the prometric testing center, please black out your name and ssn. if ur not willing to do this, stop wasting everyone's time. members on this forum would agree that we should only spend time on people who are ACTUALLY struggling or have questions with the DAT. i hope the mods don't ban me for this, but i must say, get a life dude.

Based on his given scores, it would be impossible for him to have an AA of 29. His 25 and 28 already eliminates that chance. Plus the fact that a perfect score in one of the sciences doesnt necessarily mean a 30. His AA would probably be 27-28, if of course these scores are real. If they are, then he would have the highest/second highest DAT score this year.

Also, a piece of advice to OP. Next time you decide to fake scores at least do some research about score breakdowns, corresponding %, etc.
Finally, to fake scores, you don't really have to aim that high. Greed is always a bad thing!!!
You could have stuck with 25-26 AA instead of shooting for 29-30. The effect would have been much stronger without making people suspicious.

I'd say the chances are not so high, but then again, there are sooo many posts on here adcoms can't go through every one of them (i looked up a thread i posted in a week ago... it was already on the 9th page!). Why search through 1,000 posts within the last 2 months when only probably 2% of the applicants are using this website?

Well, what about all that stuff we hear about facebook and myspace with respect to employers/adcoms, etc...

You never know how someone else might interpret something and in such a case, I guess better safe than sorry is a good approach. That's all.

Oh, and I have not heard anything from Kaplan. I guess what you said earlier does sort of make sense (the craigslist ad was from June 5th). Maybe they're fully staffed since school got out two weeks ago and most people have already signed up for DAT classes and what not.

I'll hold out another week or so, but living on visa credit and my savings is getting old! I may just have to go back to my old job (with knee pads) and beg for my crappy old job (*shudder*).
