why does the MCAT have physics but the DAT doesn't?

Because physics is more or less pointless if you are going to be a dentist. And I think its on mcat just to torture them.

all sections of the mcat are harder than the dat with exception to the pat. The questions are based on passages which really asks "ok, you have the knowldge, now apply it"
to my experience.... biology,orga,gen chem in MCAT are much easier than DAT. You don't have to recall any specific detail info on that test. Physic is not too bad also. I got 11 for both bio scien and physical scien, and 7 for reading (hardest part)... hm.. I forgot my writing score. I took the test 3 yrs ago.

I studied with a friend for the DAT, but she was taking the MCAT. She had alot of MCAT material 1000s of dollars worth! I definitely think the MACT is harder. Every section is testing verbal reasoning at the same time testing other thing like Physics. The people taking the MCAT are expected to have taken Genetics, embryology, and other scores. That is a hard test, I am glad I took the DAT!
I think the RC is harder too. They have articles about crazy art stuff I never heard of.

I would say that the DAT is much harder than the MCAT. At least the questions were when I was studying for the DAT. I used a lot of the MCAT test prep material at the kaplan center and they were cake.

grading scheme is entirely different.
if u miss 75% in mcat, u still get a 9-10.
if u miss 75% in dat, u r screwed, except PAT.
1000 bucks worth of material means nothing!
if it helps, it does. if it doesnt, it doesnt.
material should be priceless if it helps.

I am not sure of the percentages mentioned, but I do know that if you miss one question for instance on the DAT chem. your score is decreased from 29 or 30 to 25 or 26. With only 3 question out of 40 wrong in Bio you would only score 23. To get above the 22 score probably has a lot to do with luck due to right combination of questions that you are familiar with. Yes percentage wise, the MCAT would not seem harder then the DAT. I never took the MCAT, I guess I will trust you guys who have to be correct.

Not if you're going to study dental materials in any depth. *I* have no interest in doing that, but it's a valid possibility.
We just finished our dental materials module, and it was hell on earth. Blah. Nay, super blah.
Not that I am any particular fan of Physics, but coming from the Dentist I am working with "PHysics was the most important subject i ever took in undergrad " Especially physics I you probably don't need to know equations governing liquid dynamics. But you'll have to know what force and pressure is and how diffrent shapes exert different amount of force.
i.e. Sharp teeth versus flat ones. I haven't
taken any dental classes, but the above statement was simply my geuss.
Oh yeah and regarding the MCAT it is harder i agree but not impossible. If you work hard and study like you studied for DAT you should do fine. I took one practice test, offered by my school administred by KAPLAN for free. Well i did prety well, considering i was studying for DAT. MCAT is more linient with time, unlike DAT. The questions involve analytical and logical thinking so strategies are extremely important. And MCAT verbal was the hardest i think, nothing like DAT RC.
