Date for Step II

Just curious when people would say would be the latest someone should take Step II. Just trying to get my Sept, Nov, Dec calendar figured out...Thanks.

the latest would be the latest your school will allow you to take it.

I had a pretty good step 1 score so I took it at the end of January so I would not have to worry about it... the only reason I would consider taking it earlier with a good step 1 is if you have some clinical grade weakness esp. in medicine... then you might be able to argue that you have improved since then in your clinical knowledge.

Thanks, this helps a lot. So, it doesn't necessarily need to be sent to the schools before Match Day?

no. you do not send the scores anywhere and it is not automatically released.
