I haven't heard from Temple yet. When did AADSAS mailed out your app. Mine was mailed on August 11th. I am waiting for them to contact me. How do they notify about interview. By mail or by e-mail. Do they ask for the money before handing out interview or they do it at the same time like Indiana does. Thanks

Yeah! 😀 It's my first trip to Philadelphia. I'm flying up from FL on the 6th, haven't found a place to stay yet. How about you? My friend told me there's a Sunshine Inn, 10 mins walking from dental school, pretty cheap. I might stay there.

Aren't corolla's the best? Right now it's all alone in the parking lot...I just bought a toyota mr2 and it's way more fun to drive.
Temple was very laid back. Group interviews were not stressful. Basically you go to a room, have a power point presentaion from the director of admissions, who is a really nice guy, then you take a tour of the school. Then lunch and split into groups for interviews. My group was five people strong and we were asked the basic questions. Then we left!
Good luck, and make sure to keep that corolla tuned. If we both end up at Temple, then I'll do an engine swap for you and you'll be able to beat modified Beamer's... 😱

Well, I'm from Maryland, so I'm thinking I might actually drive up the morning of the interview. Either that, or my dad has a friend that lives up in the Philly area, so I might drive in late Thurs night and crash at his place. Haha, hopefully I'll get things sorted out soon.
Utes-
Very cool 🙂 So I guess so far it's Catfish, you, and me?
Should be fun. Hopefully it's not too nerve-wracking 😛

Hey cbarry I also just scheduled mine for the 12th of october. Are you flying in or driving?
I got a letter in the mail today about interview invite from Temple. I am really excited. I will call them tomorrow first thing in the morning to schedule it. I am hoping to get one on 14th Oct or something around becasue I have a fall break in the schools meaning I won't be missing my classes atleast for this interview. I will let you guys know tomorrow about my date.

Sunshine Inn??? Never heard of it....umm, I dont know if I would recommend staying in a hotel 10 mins walkign from the school. Its not the best area. I woudl just recommend staying in the city centre and then taking the subway up. There is a subway stop right in front of the school.

Since its before Dec. 1, there is no diff between the 5th and the 26th, especially when it saves you a trip. If this was January, the difference is huge, but at this stage of the game, if you dont screw up your interview, you'll get accepted.

Hey I'm just curious, what is the good side of Philadelphia, compared to the ghetto area? Not to be picky or rude, I'm just curious since I hear from people that Phili is dangerous in certain parts of the city? Thanks guys
No, no, no! I don't have a spider...I'm a bit more old school. here is my current car:
That's my boy Colin in the front seat. I was teaching him how to drive manual 😉
Even though it's 20 years old, it will give your camry some competition as we race to our first classes at Temple. Anyone else who wants to join us in the race is welcome to. Good luck with the interview. Is it your first one?

Thanks Dr. BadVibes. Now I need to reconsider where I'll stay. I thought about the safety problem too. But also don't want to live too far away in case get lost in the morning. BTW, do you know any good place in the city centre?
thanks 🙂
When I went I stayed in Jersey,(Cherry Hill, New Jersey) but had to rent a car. I was looking and found a hotel called the Sunshine...or something. It was only 50 bucks for the night, but it was in a risky area of the city about 2 blocks away from the school. If you stay here, then don't go out after dark and don't be stupid. I also didn't end up staying there because I didn't know if the place was a dive or not. Ever stayed in a dive hotel before? It's not pleasant. There is also a best western down south (temple gave a sheet about it) you guys should pool together and all stay int he same room, split the $$$.

Cbarry,
Yeah I'm flying in, from the west side, going to take a while. So far me and Cbarry for oct 12th, anyone else?
Any one for October 18th. I just scheduled mine for that day. I am flying in from Detroit, MI. I am looking to book a flight and getting a round trip Air ticket for around 200 bucks. Which airport is the easier one. I am thinking is the Philadelphia International Airport. where to stay etc. Any travelling info would be appreciated. Anyone else going for Oct 18th.

Yep, Exactly the reason I chose Oct 18th. I had earlier options but I chose this one. I wanted to schedule my UMKC interview on Monday of that week but They don't interview that monday at all. It would have been real nice.
Where are you planning on staying in philly and when you going there.
Im staying at the mariott courtyard - its one of the hotels that offered a discount in that email they sent.
Im flying in early monday afternoon and im probably gonna spend the day touring the city (might as well, its fall break). Let me know if you wanna meet up or something.

Regarding places to stay downtown, I would just look on a map and keep it south of Market Street, North of Pine street and in between the two rivers. Temple is just a straight shot up Broad so you can easily take a cab or bus.
Other options would be to find a place in the farther out suburbs which are gentrified (downtown and farther out is nice, there is just a ring of urban decay seperating them).

He also, told me that he can give me a ride to Temple in the morning no Problem at all. I am glad that I called my friends around to see if anyone is living in philly. we will see if we can meet you on Monday. Ortherwise I will see you on Tuesday. I will be a brown guy with a lightblue shirt and red tie.
By the way, what is your major at Michigan.

I am!

Philly's a great town and you'd have to try really hard to find a place where you'd feel uncomfortable during the day. Try any hotels downtown or on the Main Line (they'd have a City Line Ave. address).
If you're looking for something to do, there's a great bar scene in Old City (basically between Arch and Walnut and Front and 6th). Make especially sure you check that out if you're here for the first Friday of the month, but it's also where the rock bars and the dance clubs are.
The chances you'll go into the neighborhood where all the students live is unlikely cause there's no real big destinations there, but if you want to see what there is to do in that neighborhood, check out Main Street in Manayunk (across the river from the Main Line hotels). It's like a 5-10 minute drive from where most of the students live and it's pretty cool.
Find a visitor's center or a Wawa and pick up a map of the city. It's shaped pretty much like a Y. In the center is (duh) Center City, laid out nicely on a grid with interspersed parks, plenty of restaurants and stores, theaters, and concert halls. Look a little ways north, on Broad Street, and you'll see where the Dental school is, at Broad and Allegheny. The airport's way towards the South, along with the big concert venues, and the homes of the Phillies (got messed with by Texas), Eagles (gonna mess up Dallas), 76ers, and Flyers. Going to the Northwest, you see Roxborough, which is where most of the students live. It has the largest inner-city park IN THE WORLD, and the main apartment complexes are one big roll down a hill away. Biking, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, jogging, swimming, it's a great park. Thanks, FDR.
Oh, yeah, there's a lot of historic crap too. Nah, it's really pretty cool. Check out that National Treasure movie. Other movies filmed in Philly: The Sixth Sense (Fairmount), 12 Monkeys (Fairmount), Fallen (downtown), Se7en, Witness (30th Street Station)...ok, so those are all a little scary. But what about Philadelphia, Rocky pts. I-V, and Superbowl 39? Quality. Oh yeah. Gotta love Philly.

I was offered the Nov. 1 interview, but decided to go with Nov. 2. As for seats already filled up...they havent done so yet. Any interview before Dec. 1 is a good sign, after that you are kinda SOL. Good luck!
polarnut said:Bleh, I got the Nov. 1 interview...
Tell me, has Temple filled out majority of their seats already? If anybody has the info...
I've heard they interview grip of students even after they fill out all their seats.
Anyone joining me Nov. 1?

How long was the interview? and wasnt it weird to have to speak in front of your peers? Like was it that they asked a question and then went down the line of the 5 applicants to hear what they said? Any surprise or weird questions during the interview? Thanks in advance, your input would be very much appreciated.
From what I understand, the public transportation system in Philly is pretty good. If I were to take the R5 (from Thorndale/Paoli) in to the "North Broad" station, would I be anywhere close to Temple's Dental School? Is there a better way coming in on the R5 (maybe to Suburban Station, walk to City Hall, then Broad Street Line up)? Is this practical before 9 AM on a weekday?
Hopefully this information will benefit other interviewees as well... 🙄
