hey everyone, thanks to an earlier post, i checked out datqvault.com and i've been doing some of the biology practice questions. i thought that i had a pretty decent grasp on biology but i've been getting a good chuck of these questions wrong.

are the questions harder than what i should be expecting on the dat?

for my test it was about the same difficulty... I actually had a few similar questions on the actual DAT from the datqvault... I had an average score of about 20 on the datqvault and scored a 22 on the actual dat

thanks for the reply. i've been doing the practice problems so far. not the actual practice test yet. but i got most of them right on a couple of the practice sets of 15 questions but then hit a bad streak of getting over half of them wrong on a bunch of sets in a row which is the reason why i'm concerned right now

i took 3 datqvault tests last night, and i actually believe its simpler than the real DAT. i feel like the way the questions are worded/phrased are MUCH more straightforward as compared to the real dat.
I think datQvault is a good way to practice but In reality, from when i took my dat last summer, i think the real dat's way of phrasing questions and their bio questions in general are a bit more challenging.
the material they cover is good review though

Jack is homozygous for an autosomal, dominant, trait. Meridith is homozygous for the recessive allele of the same gene. What percentage of their children would likely express the dominant phenotype?

they have the answer listed as 100% but shouldnt it be zero percent? bc all their kids will be heterozygotes who DONT express the PHENOTYPE but will be CARRIERS. wont u only express the phenotype if your homozygous???

It's 100% because they are asking dominant phenotype not dominant genotype. Since their children will be heterozygous, they all will be dominant phenotype

would you say that topscore would be a little more representative for the bio section?

datqvault is easier. I have been getting 35 or 36 out of 40 correct on every test, and I've taken 8 so far (~DAT score of 21). On the real DAT I got a 19 in bio. But, I think those questions and answers are a great resource!

He is 100% for phenotype. I think you are confused as to what is a genotype and what is a phenotype, which is understandable. To express a dominant gene that is complete and not co-dominant, you only need one; the child is heterozygous and dominant at the same time.

I was averaging around a 19 in my datQvault tests (took all ten) and i ended up with a 23 in BIO on the real test. I liked the setup or explaining the questions. Something that DAT Destroyer should look in doing instead of the paper book...

Really for bio just study as many subjects as you can. I feel like you really need to have a broad understanding of all of bio. I didnt think the actually test was too specific just had a lot of questions that you needed to use your biology knowledge to come to most logical answer.

datqvault is good because even tho you might think you know a topic well, it gives you the question in a twisted form. this happens often on the real dat

To amend my old post, I retook the DAT and got a 22 on bio. So, in a way you could say datqvault is harder since I averaged a 20 on there.

It is all relative to your other studying. Just learn from your mistakes.

My average for dat qvault bio was an 18. I scored a 24...
