DBT CEs

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This is a amazing free resource developed by folks who worked extensively with Dr. Linehan at UW and are passionate about informing ‘proper’ DBT treatment.

If somebody is getting genuine DBT supervision, then your sessions are being meticulously scrutinized for technical adherence to the many dynamic components of DBT and it’s the model developed by Linehan at UW.

If you’re just getting your feet wet, it’s probably a poor fit but if you have some foundational knowledge/experience, check it out:

Also, Kelly Koerner’s ‘Doing DBT’ book is phenomenal and brings DBT to life in very practical ways.

Behavioral Tech - company started by Linehan to provide training

Portland DBT - Linda Dimeff is the director and she worked with Linehan through the 90s

DBT PE - if interested in DBT PE, it was developed by Harned while working with Linehan for over a decade.

These options will provide you the most by-the-book and representative training that Linehan herself would most support. Stay away from any of the big players that provide training in everything and include DBT.

I second going through Behavioral Tech - the only thing is many of their trainings require you to be part of a DBT team.

Thanks for the information. Not looking to really practice DBT, just interesting in learning more about this area.
You can go to the source and read Linehan’s 1993 book ‘Cognitive Behavioral Treatment of BPD’.

It’s quite readable and covers a lot of ground, from theory (why some people develop BPD), principles (DBT addresses core emotion dysregulation that’s emblematic of BPD) to outlining the rationale and specific strategies and processes of DBT treatment.

In addition to the above resources, I think ‘DBT Principles in Action’ by Swenson is excellent.
