DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) - old school
DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) - new school - more like MD (medical doctor). They are finally figuring out that the mouth is a link to the entire body.

no technical difference.
 
They are merely two ways of spelling the same thing: dentist. I'm closing this thread as it has been beat to death in the past, and also threads dedicated to this topic quickly deteriorate into mayhem.
