Is anyone out there thinking about doing dds/phd? I know they are super competitive to get into, but i'm wondering how competitive. Is taking the GRE required everywhere?
I am definetly considering doing a DDS/PhD, although I don't know a whole lot about the programs out there. I think Ohio State has a 7 year DDS/PhD in oral health program, but I don't know anything about competitiveness or the GRE.
I'm not sure about other schools but the University of Minnesota's DDS/PhD program only requires the DAT (the graduate school will accept DAT scores in lieu of the GRE for applicants doing a duel degree). As far as competition: it is about the same as a regular application for dental school. You have to apply to the graduate school and dental school, interview at both, and get into both. I hope that helps a little.
