Semantics. They are the same degree.

Use the search function. This has been discussed.
Additionally, try looking at school's webpage.

In short:

Similarities: Everything.
Differences: Nothing.

stop doing that to people. tell him the truth. everyone knows that only a dmd could write a prescription and only a dds could do the real thing.

Well dai phan. Some people weren't smart enough to do both well with hand skills and with intellect. So the people that could do both got to have a DDS, and the people who almost failed all their practical skills classes had to settle for a DMD. Oh, and they made DMD's pay more for their dental school.

Seriously.

Oh, and as a side note, what is all that crap that has appeared below my face and join date etc.. One looks like a pirated Fram Air filter logo and the other looks like a pirated purina dog chow logo. What the hell is it?

They enable you to tag a specific thread within SDN on another site, such as digg. The way I understand this to work is that the more a thread is tagged the more the thread (and it's link) climbs on one of those sites ranks and thus the more people are to click on it and view what is going on there.

One reason why I am getting both degrees at the same time. I have excellent hand skills and intellect.:meanie:

Think of them as medals for not doing your residency and instead roaming on SDN to give ill advices to unsupecting kids who want to get their life back on track. Count me in too. DP

Dai Phan! I'm very happy to see we are rubbing off on you. You were a little stiff at first, but now you seem to take life totally sarcastically like we are!

I was thinking the same thing. He's one of the boys now!!

I am going part time for my DDS right now and while I'm sort of proud of it, I ask my DMD professors more detailed questions than my DDS professors. Why? They know more because they have a D "MD" which as you will soon learn is more equivalent to an MD than a DDS. Notice there is no MD in DDS. They are just a little bit smarter but not much that it should really concern you. By the way, all Dental Schools are ranked and the top ones all offer the DMD. If you're really smart you can get a DMD/MD combo which makes you more qualified in everything than a DDS or an MD. (Think double doctor here). Sometimes looking back on it, when I'm alone in the clinic, I often remember the moment that I took the short cut and went for the DDS. I should have never accepted that DDS offer from U Phoenix dental school.

The DDS degree is actually sort of like a dental school for non science majors. Kind of like that Biology for a Changing World course they offered in colege. Member that. Anyway I'm rambling a bit now, and maybe its the Dewar's talking but what's important in this world is being a good person and a dentist, but what's really important is having something to hold over other people. That's priceless and getting a DMD is a perfect way to do just that. In fact, when you are in your interview you can ask your interviewer when the school will switch over to offering the the full D-MD degree.

😀
