Does anyone know if DO programs have a deadline like MD programs do, where DO programs must let applicants know of their decision of accepted, rejected, or wait listed?

Like the MD medical schools' deadline is May 15th.

Thanks

No May deadlines for DO programs, however most schools require a honkin' huge ($1k-2k) deposit sometime in May to ensure your loyalty for the upcoming fall classes. AACOMAS has general deadlines but schools have varying deposits that you need to place within a couple weeks or so of your acceptance notification.

While interviewing at WCU I met a student that was offered admission to the class of 2017 ... three day into classes. He had to move cross country and live out of a hotel for a couple weeks.

Yeah while interviewing at VCU they said one of their alums, the last admitted of his class (2 days before class), was now a plastic surgeon in Hawaii. He set up a fund so now each person in the subsequent classes who filled the last spot gets a full (I think?) scholarship.

hahaha, the very last people will hold out to get the scholarship now. That's cool of the doc. Maybe he should have just given the school the money to give as emergency funds for those accepted in the last 2 weeks before school or something. Still pretty awesome.

VCU?

Virginia Commonwealth University, formerly Medical College of Virginia. It's an allopathic school but I thought the anecdote was relevant nonetheless.

That's pretty cool.

This cycle I've noticed quite a few people were unable to attend interviews due to financial concerns. One day when I'm financially set I'd want to set up a fund to help applicants attend their interviews.
