Hi, I'm applying for Fall 2012 and it seems like very many people have already applied and some have even gotten results!

I'm applying to Yale, George Washington, Loma Linda, and BU and I'm planning to finish up my applications by the holidays.

Not all of these programs are listed as rolling in SOPHAS, but is that not true since some people already have results?

Do you think applying late December would hurt my chances? I'm also taking the GREs for a second time in January, but submitting the application before I get the score.

I think it really varies by school as to when they send decisions out (they may send out waves, for instance), but most schools have a hard deadline.

The best advice I can give is to send your applications when they're ready. Don't miss any deadlines, but make sure to polish your application to be the best it can be. You'd like to put the best foot forward!

Ok, thank you for your response. I made my decision to apply to several MPH programs pretty late for the Fall 2012 cycle.. so I hope I can submit a solid app by the end of the month.

I'm in a similar boat, anteater1. Does anyone think it's too late to take the GRE in January for schools with 1/15/2012 deadlines?

undergrad1234,

You should check the policy of each school, because they all seem to have different definitions of what "deadline" means. Some say you just have to e-submit your SOPHAS app by the deadline and others say that all materials must be received by SOPHAS by the deadline.

Thanks, anteater1. I checked with Columbia and from what the email indicated, they want all materials received by January- they're "hard" deadlines are still confusing to me, and the admissions officer did not really specify. BU and Yale told me that as long as you e-submit your application by the priority deadline and take the GRE before the deadline, then you're fine (BU stated specifically that chances of admission or scholarships won't be diminished in any way if I take the GRE in January).

Hope this helps!

Ok, thanks! This helps a lot! I actually moved my GRE up to December 28 from January 13. Eh, hoping it was the right decision.
