Dean's Honor
Started by YoonS
i had deans honor for 3/5 quarters i was at my second university
for the first one there wasn't a deans honor list at that time. should i mention anything at all about how there wasn't a deans honor list for the first university?
because if i just put 3 quarters on the dean's honor list, it might not look that good as to 3 quarters out of a possible 5, not 3 quarters out of a possible 11

How should someone indicate that they were on the Dean's List for more than one (4+) semesters?
...should they even report it?

The details seem trivial. This awards section isn't likely to be what gets you in. Not to say it's not important and that I'm not proud of all of you. I'm actually jealous of some of the work you kids have done. I have very little to put in this section so I'm throwing the Dean on there as well. A ton of people will too so it's not going to wow anyone. I'm just implying that it's not a one-time thing in the name of the award. The shortcomings we see in the limited space are likely understood by those who see our applications as well.

yeah, is it worth reporting it twice?
how should you report the different dates then?

If they really care exactly which semesters, they'll peek at your grades and figure it out. I'm not in their shoes, but I'm guessing they won't look much past the words 'Dean's List'.
For dates, I put the most recent. For the name field, I put the name followed by (# semesters).

I dunno. I didn't have that many awards so I just put:
Deans Fall 2010
Deans Spring 2009
Deans etc etc with some other fluff in between.

What do you guys put down for Sponsoring Organization?
Who gave you the award??? Your University...
You guys are really over thinking this. Put it down once when you first got it, describe it as receiving it X time. Catastrophic problem averted.
lol you're right but (just to play the devils advocate) there's no place to enter a description in the "Awards, Honors, Scholarships" section.
Just:
-Name of Award, Honor, or Scholarship:
- Sponsoring organization:
- Date Received/Awarded Month:
- " " " " " Year:
There's a character limit on the first 2 and I'd much rather have adcoms see that I have multiple Dean's list's than just the one that I indicated.
Should I just leave it out?

Name of award: Dean's List (X times)
I believe that's what I did. Does it fit?
