I have heard that some doctors, finishing a urology residency, can have the hospital which hires them post-residency offer to pay off their debts. Is this true? If so, is it only true for competitive specialties like urology?

My understanding was that usually the more competitive fields do NOT pay back loans, because those fields are higher paying.
