Hey peoples

I'm interested in the SMP program at Georgetown and am wondering if we're allowed to borrow the whole amount. Does anyone who's currently doing this program using 100% loans or does the school (the program) give grants? Will the program give me 100% loans (or hoepfully some grants) even if I currently have close to nothing in my bank account? I had to pay for my undergrad edu. Hoep someone can help me out. Tahnks all

AFAIK, there are no grants and you can get up to about 16K on stafford (sub and unsub) and about 35K on private loans to cover the costs.

what are some good private loans? do you mean alternative loans from private companies? thanks daeojkim

Georgetown uses Citi bank, but you can use any bank you want (the private loans will at least get you jump started on a good relationship with a bank that will come in handy when its time to get a mortgage) and they all suck you are going to get a loan that is at prime and ajustable at best. Be sure to mention your goal of becoming a doctor, that opens up certain loans with better rates.

The thought of taking loans is a bit frightening.

i'm receiving about 10k in subsidized stafford loans, 8k in unsubsidized stafford loans, and will seek the remainder in federal plus graduate loans, which have a fixed rate of about 8.5%.

Forgot about the plus loans, thats a new thing this year.
