I have not gotten a single interview and it's late December. And yes, I've been panicking. AS I've been bouncing between getting an MPH and going Caribbean but I can't firmly decide on a backup plan. Public health sounds interesting, but I don't think I want to pursue it as a career. Given my financial situation, I also don't think its worth shelling out that sort of money for a degree thats unlikely to help me in the admissions process (please correct me if I'm wrong). Caribbean also sounds like a huge gamble. My stats are low (3.3 cGPA, 2.9 sGPA, 26 MCAT). I have lots of work experience and solid LORs, but I know it'll be hard for schools to seriously consider me with these numbers.

Did any of you have similar stats to me and ended up getting accepted into med school? What advice would you give me?

Why not just retake science classes you did poorly in and apply DO next cycle with a higher sGPA?

This, in my opinion, is your best route to take. Start signing up for all science courses that you got below B's in, even if you can only afford a community college classes. Apply DO only once your sGPA is above 3.0 (preferably 3.2+).

Your MCAT is fine for many DO schools. A SMP in your case (low GPA's/low MCAT for MD) won't be worthwhile unless it has linkage set up with a medical school. Don't go Carribean.

Concur with everyone else. Stats are way too low for the majority of MD schools. DO schools would be a better option. A lot of people say don't go Carribean because it's hard to get residency or something back in the States.
