Has the acceptance process always been in December? I'm just curious to know why we have to wait for this date. Has it historically been like that or have schools adopted this method for a specific reason?

Talk to ADEA, they make the rules and schools follow them. I don't think it has changed in recent times but I'd guess that schools would prefer to notify earlier to draw students they want in.
