Hi, I wonder if we can make phone calls after Dec, 1st to check our admission status.

And, based on ur previous experience or any secondhand experience from others, do u think they will surely tell u their conclusions on the phone immediately after Dec, 1st? (Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected)

Or, do we have to wait until they contact with us? (Snail mail, phone call, e-mail) 🙂

Or, is it more complicated than that?

You have to fly out to each school and ask them personally, they want to see that your committed to their school

All schools are different in that regards, too! Aren't they?

Then, I should check with each school via e-mail beforehand to ask whether I can make a phone call or not.

Btw, I thought all schools may have the same policy.

Anyway, it's not gonna be easy to make a phone call to ask about admission, is it? :scared:

Anybody?

to be serious,

just wait for them to contact you

i wouldn't bug them if i were you

1) Do they make decision before December, and just send a letter to you on December 1st? (By December on time?)

2) 1-2 weeks after the interview, they are likely to conclude. But, they never release the conclusion before December 1st. Then, sounds like I can make a phone call on December 1st morning.

3) Pertinent to #2), do you think they may tell u they didn't decide yet on December 1st or they can't tell you on the phone?

U of M said an email on December 1 is bad news 🙁. A phone call December 1 followed by snail mail is good news 🙂.

Then, can I conclude each school will notify in totally different ways?? (Time, method)

Anyway, I want to know if they will have a solid conlcusion by December 1. And, if they will release the outcome on December 1 to all. (Is it mailing date? Is it when we are going to recieve the outcome?)

Just want to hear anything from u guys.

I think it is safe to say that schools do things in different ways. Case told me that they send out snail mail, but that you can call and ask them if you can get through on the phone. I would just give it a week or so to hear back from your schools, and then if you feel so inclined to give them a call.

every single school does it a little different (and they usually tell you at the interview).. some send their letters out to try to get to you exactly on dec. 1, others send their letters out on dec. 1, others e-mail, others call, etc etc etc. why does it matter anyway? just wait ... 🙂

Here is one more thing to think about.

December 1st is the Monday directly after Thanksgiving. I doubt letters will be received that Monday unless schools send letters out early. I am not sure what the breaks look like, but do dental students get some or all of Thanksgiving week off? If so, you won't hear back from the schools until later that week or the next, if they use snail mail that is.

Didn't catch that before!

Btw, I have never asked when the decision will be made during my interviewz.

DIFFERENT!! Got it!

I think I'd better just wait without making a phone call.

Anway, it's pretty scary to make a direct phone call to ask the outcome, isn't it?

Thanks all for info.

Visbimmer....Dec 1st is not necessarily closure day. DS can reject you at anytime during the application process...or not. Dec 1 is the EARLIEST date they can accept you..or not. In other words, you might not get any resolution of your status on Dec 1...even if you had a pre Dec 1 interview. They might accept you or leave you dangling and not tell you anything. Up down or sideways. They might not make a decision on your file by Dec 1 and leave you up in the air. They can accept you from Dec 1 up till the first day of class (and in some cases beyond the first day). They can leave you up in the air without a reject, accept, or a waitlist offer. Dec 1 IS NOT Closure day. If you are lucky enough to get an offer on or about Dec 1...great. If you get multiple offers then wonderful. But you might not hear one way or the other on Dec 1.

after my NYU interview, the guy told me to expect a decision in early december....he said most likely dec 3rd or 4th....i'm assuming he told me this because from predents and posts here they do snail mail so it would take a few days...

they also said they HATE IT when people call between dec 1st and 7th...they said to give it at least a week before you start bugging them.

also like the above poster said....dec 1st isnt the closure date, it is just the soonest you can get accepted. most schools who wont accept you will just keep you hanging around and not deny you until later.

I wish we had something like "early decision" or "early notification" or simply rolling basis admission.

I believe many previous applicants already paid a couple of non-refundable deposits for their top choice.

So, there must be a lot of people spending another thousands of dollars for that. What do you know about that? 🙂

Of course, I know people will not care that money in that situation!

But, "some" may spend $4000+ for that! Right?

If you wanna save money on deposit, you'd better research more about the schools you've interviewed.
and each school has different application process so be patient.

??????????????????????????????

U never know to which schools u will be accepted.

Ok, so I think I asked a question about a thing that has a clear answer already. Sorry~ 🙂

Again, admission ends in August 2009, and letter will begin to be released after DEC 1st.

However, I still want to hear a story who spent lots of money for changing his final destination in the previous cycles. Cuz, there must have been a lot of people doing so. Any legends?
