So, I've been accepted to three schools, UNE, UHS and DMU. I have to decide basically this week and so I always like to get as many opinions as possible. So, any students or anybody from those schools please feel free to let me know what you think about them. Right now I'm leaning a little towards DMU, I'm most interested about some of the new faculty they have there which seems to try to alleviate some of the problems that may have been there. Any opinions about that?? As always, any help will be much appreciated. Thank you so much.

Congrates on your acceptances. I'll say right off that I'm going to UNE next year. So bear that in mind. I was accepted to both UHS and UNE, but I never applied to DMU so I can't be of much help there, I can say about UHS and UNE though...

I loved the curriculum at UHS a lot. Their systems based approach seems like it would be good. However, I wasn't to impressed with their lack of technology. (no wireless like UNE)... I know they said that the new wireless would be in by next year. So, I guess we'd have to see.
That being said, I've always gone to small schools (my HS grad class only had 70, and my college grad class only has 150)... I've also always lived in the northeast US, so for me to go all the way to Kansas City and be in a class of 220 didn't seem like the best choice for me. If it's between UNE and UHS, if you like living in the city, definetly go to UHS, if you like living in a smaller town, go to UNE. That being said, I think everything else was pretty much the same.
Best of luck making this decision! Maybe see you next year. Congrates again!

Hey Josh,

Congrats on your acceptances!!

If you are talking about the new Clinical Affairs setup, I agree with you that the faculty holding the new positions are making a big difference. Most of the second years received their 1st or 2nd choice for rotation placement (and remember that only your core elective and hospital sites are done this way...all of the electives are completely up to you)

I'm not sure if you were told, but a few new professors joined us last summer, and with them they bring additional labs and research opportunities.

I had a choice between UNE and DMU too(didn't apply to UHS), and my situation was the exact opposite of Jon's. I wanted to go somewhere that wasn't as large and metropolitan as where I'm from, but Biddeford was just a tad too small for me, even though it was really beautiful and all that lobster... Well anyway, Des Moines turned out to be a nice fit 🙂 This just goes to show how your own gut feelings about each school and the surrounding area matters a lot in your decision.
