I am at gtown. I interviewed and was waitlisted at Einstein.
The schools are similar but it is not as cut and dry as NYC vs. DC.
In my opinion, you are living in the worst area of NYC at Einsten and the best area of DC at Gtown. I would say Gtown is the greenwich village of DC. However, housing at einstein is great and cheap due to this non-expensive location. Housing at Gtown is 1. Not provided, and 2. Much more expensive.
At einstein, you take the trian into the city from the bronx, and take it home, minimal driving.
Gtown you are right in the middle of the city and walk everywhere, no driving.
Also, I would say that at Gtown, you are more clearly at one of the best schools in the area, whereas in Einstein, there is Columbia, Sinai, NYU, Cornell all stealing your thunder, iif that bothers you, it wouldnt bother me tho. Einstein facilities were much nicer though overall, with the small gym and small little campus area. At einstein I got the feeling I was part of a small oasis in the bronx, where at Gtown i felt like i was part of a big awesome area with no need for isolation.
One last thing, Gtowns match list is incredible. Both schools are very competitive in my opinion and I imagine the workload being similar at einsten. However, I honestly believe graduating from Gtown will make you more competitive in the match than from einstein, if that matters to you. If you are a top student in your gaduating med school class, either school is sufficient. If you just want to hang with the pack in med school and get the best residency you can for your effort (my strategy), Gtown is better.
Hope this helps. Dont mean to be biased about my school. Both are great schools and I honestly cannot say where I would have gone if I had gotten into einstein since I am from that area. I was not about to wait it out tho after my Gtown acceptance. Peace
