Hi everyone,

I'm kind of in a bind at what to do about this one particular course. I originally took a statistics course at my home institution and received a B-. One school that I am applying to would require me to retake the course so on my application I indicated through OTCAS that I am retaking it through a distance learning program.

I'm not sure at this point I want to continue taking the course because it's a little bit different than I had expected and do not want to risk my gpa. I am also worried that other schools may look at my application and not consider my application or give me a solid decision until I complete the course although I have reached their grade requirement.

Do you think that it is advisable to email the admission counselors for the schools and let them know I am not planning on continuing to retake the course or do you think it would negatively impact my admission chances? Or should I just wait it out and see?

I would say wait it out, since you already have a grade for that class anyway. Although if you entered the distance education one on OTCAS, see if you can delete it- i think you can because it should be in progress and you can usually edit those. Otherwise they might be waiting for a grade that never comes if you decide to drop it! Also, i always say as a last resort to drop the class- is there any way you can get at least a B+ or an A-? Are their videos that show you how to do formulas, etc?, theres still time to bring up the grade !!

You did say there is one school that you would need to retake the course for- does that mean they only accept a prereq with a B or higher or something? if so, and you're serious about that school- that might negatively affect you if they don't accept the B- that you originally earned
