How soon into your residency did you subspecialists decide on what fellowship you wanted to pursue?

I assume it's "the earlier the better," especially for retina and plastics. Is this true?

There seems to be a paucity of information regarding subspecialty fellowships on the internet. Is the best source the usual: colleagues and word of mouth?

I'm trying to decide between cornea, retina, and oculoplastics.
