Let me preface this by apologizing; I don't mean to use the board as a substitute for the ADA guide or to neglect the search function! I just couldn't find a lot of info about this, so it's my turn to spam the board with my own "what are my chances / where to apply" thread. It kills me to do so, so thank you in advance!

My stats are:

GPA / sGPA - 3.08 / 3.08
PAT / AA / TS - 20 / 20 / 20

Everything was a 20 except QR - 15, RC - 23 , BIO - 21, GC - 19.

Now I can look on predents.com and get an idea of who favors DAT vs. GPA, but I can't find a lot of info on who really cares about RC, which is really my only real "strong point" in this whole application. I found one thread where someone mentioned University of Pacific really liking higher RC scores.

Does anyone else have any other tips on where to apply? Of course I've got BU, NYU, UIC, and SIU on the list for sure (Illinois resident). Not sure about the new Midwestern, I marked them down to send my DAT but I hear so many mixed things about people's chances there.

I think UNLV has a big emphasis on RC. Please correct me if I am wrong though.

I have heard that they weigh that pretty heavily in there admissions equation, but I think GPA plays an even bigger part.

I think every school favors RC. There is a study correlating high RC scores with success in dental school.

Obviously apply to your state schools and apply to a wide range of private schools including NYU, BU and USC. You may also want to add Maryland to your list as they accept a lot of out-of-staters (about 50% of our class is OOS).

It sounds like you're doing a good job researching which schools to apply to. If I were in your situation I would apply to about 15 schools to increase your odds of acceptance. If you have a great personality, then you stand a good chance of getting in if you can score the interview.

Best of luck to you,
jb!🙂
