I am currently in a Masters program... I am 16 credits and a lab rotation shy of completing it. I got into Temple and Tufts, but they wont matriculate me into there program unless I finish my masters... I commute 2 hours a day just to go to this school, and I HATE it. I will have to basically kill myself this spring semester to complete it... I also was accepted into Howard, and they don't care if I finish the program or not... What would you do if you were in my situation?

Go to Howard! :-D No seriously it depends on what you want.

How much is this program costing you? Would you like to complete your Masters? What would you do if while you were in dental school something happened and you were unable to have the manual dexeterity necessary to become a dentist(think accident and nerves/muscle tissue damaged)? Would you like to have your Masters to fall back on?

Instead of completing the program you could be working full time and saving money so you would have some money in the bank so you can be comfortable going into dental school.

Where would you like to go is Temple, Tufts, Howard your first choice?

Make the decision that is best for you for the next four years of your life....would you regret choosing howard simply because you didnt want to complete your degree? Or would you be happy with your decision either way?

Think about it and think about it hard this is a life decision.....

Don't forget if you stop your masters program and have loans out you will have to be begin paying them back while you are not enrolled.

Good luck to you! If we both choose HU then I guess I'll being seeing you next year!

I can't really say that I have a "top choice," I just wanna go to a school with good clinical exposure, and everyone knows Temple is great for that. However Howard is in the heart of DC, and I'm pretty confident the patient pool there isn't shabby either, put probablly not nearly to the extent of Philly... any other comments would be really helpful.

Howard is not a bad school....

Also they have good flow of patients...

I have friends who go there and they said they like the school..

My two cents.....save yourself before u start the real deal...

After all, the school does not matter. the thing that matters is how much you learn from it...

Hope this helps....

Will you regret dropping out of your masters program in 20 years? Will it bug you that you quit because you felt like you couldn't do it?

I vote for trying to finish. The satisfaction of accomplishment will help your confidence during the difficult times in dental school. Besides, it's more letters to add after your name (I'm totally kidding).

I agree!!! I totally understand you're killing yourself right now and feel for you, but if it were me I would regret not finishing. afterall, you've already worked so hard-seems like it would be a waste not to finish. Good luck and congrats on your acceptances.

It really depends upon whether you would rather go to Tufts or Temple over Howard all other things being equal. In the absence of a compelling reason, you should suck it up and finish your Masters. It does not seem that you are that far from finishing. If you take the "easy" way out now, you will probably being doing the same thing during dental school. It is a bad habit.
