I have to make a decision soon. Should I work at a CVS as a pharmacy tech or do research at a university (no pay) just for experience.

Both are on the table. I am looking for advice.

Thank you guys,

Jim

I suppose this is so you have a better chance of getting accepted to a SOP?
Do you have any pharmacy experience already?

I would lean towards the research; it will be more of a unique component of an application that other applicants will most likely not have. Sure, the CVS would give you direct pharmacy experience, but if your grades are already good, its not as important. The research job would make you stand out more in my opinion.

Depends on how bad you need the dough (always a concern for me. I can't really do a lot of pro bono things anymore, bc i'm so da#n poor.

I agree that you can get a lot out of a research project that'll distinguish you and allow you to bring more to the table in your app and interview, but working as a tech can provide that as well as long as you keep your eyes open (noticing trends in sales, treatment, workload. you gotta always be evaluating where you are and what you're doing.)
