I will graduate in May 2009 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a minor in Health, Illness & Society. I have always wanted to go to medical but never made the decision final until recently. But I've recently been discouraged by my advisor because even though I have a B in A & P, I have managed to get a D in General Biology 1. I don't know if I should continue on this late in my career or wait until after graduation and attend a postbac program or just enroll for a 2nd bachelors degree. No I can't continue the program now. That would put me behind in my graduation schedule and I'm ready to graduate from this university ASAP. Yes I love college just not this one. LOL

Any advise?

We can't offer you advice on what to do with the rest of your life, that's sort personal. Shadow a doctor or two and then decide for yourself. We can help you assess your chances if you post your current GPA and the number of credit hours you've taken. Also if you don't like your college then, yes, a formal post-bac program might be more your style. Go to the post-bac forum to see what's available.

I understand wanting to graduate ASAP, but that won't speed up your timeline to start med school. If you started taking your prereqs now, you could do that over the next year or so, apply to med schools, and then finish up your graduation requirements during the application year.

If that isn't a good option, then just take the prereqs at any decent school after you graduate. They don't need to have a formal post-bac program. Med schools don't really care about that. Just make sure you will be able to get into the classes you need, and see if the school has a premed office that can help you with your LORs, etc.

How is your overall gpa? You'll also need to retake BIO 1, so account for that in your plans.

Just make sure your poor grades are not due to your poor study habits and mastery of the material rather than a mismatch of student/college. If you don't get your problems worked out, no matter what you do, they will follow.
