I'm currently trying to decide whether I should go to South University (Columbia campus) or Mercer right now and having trouble decide, I wish I had asked these during the interview, but ended up running out of time talking about other BSs. lol, Anyways, I'm mainly concern about % of students getting into residency after graduation, Job prospect for those who graduate, rotation sites availability (will most be close or far from school), and amount of intern hours required. I will be attending one of this school next fall and your input would be very helpful. 😀

South University:
Pros - 3 year = early graduation
- Very beautiful school

Cons - 3 years = less time to do earn intern hours
- crazy curriculum

Mercer:
Pros - Well known = better chance of getting into residency?
Less intense Schedule

Cons - nothing yet...

3 years sound good, but can you handle the workload at a much faster pace? I would do the 3 years if I could handle the pace, and you could save a lot of $ too. However, it seems that your mind is set for Mercer so go with Mercer 🙂

I don't know about saving alot of $ consider both of their tuitions are about the same. But that is true, I'm leaning towards Mercer right now. Still looking for more info regarding the job prospects, rotatation, etc... for both school though, especially South University as i have search the forum and doesn't seem like the school is in the hot list like Mercer because it's a 3 year program i guess.

I don't know about saving alot of $ consider both of their tuitions are about the same.

Just taking this sentence (and no outside knowledge about the schools) - if tuition is the same for both PharmD programs, then you'd at least be saving the cost of living for the additional year by going to the 3 vs the 4 year program. Also, the opportunity cost of going to school for an additional year includes the lost pharmacist wage for a year.

(I realize there is some debate whether the "lost year" matters when you're going to be working for 40, but it does factor into the opportunity cost.)
