I have been offered admission at MSUCOM and am planning on attending there next year. Today I was emailed by LECOM-Erie with an interview invite. Should I go to the interview and see LECOM in person? I'm not sure if I should compare schools, etc.
Also, if I decide to not take the interview, how should I decline it? Does it sound better to phone or email back?

Thanks so much!

Do you want to go check out Erie or not?

There is no universal reason to go or not go. Its just a matter of if you want to keep looking around.

You guys are right - I'm 99.9% sure of MSUCOM, so I will be giving up my interview spot. Hopefully someone on here will get it!

I'm lucky enough to do the same thing with a few schools and it's better for you and that person who gets your spot!

Agreed. My advisor and I talked about this today since I have multiple interviews but a "#1." Its your "right" to be selfish since this is your future, but if you know for a solid fact that you won't be going to a specific school but hold an interview spot or acceptance spot at that school you are being overly selfish. We also talked about the bridges that are formed for next year's potential class, the year after that, and onward. When you remove your interview invite from the school, do it tactfully and thank them for your time. Don't leave your university as a bad taste in the school's mouth.

I would personally email the admissions department of the school you are withdrawing your interview from and CC the Dean and/or Director of Admissions as well:

To Whom it May Concern:

Thank you for your interest in my candidacy for your incoming medical school class. I am greatful that of the many applicants applying to XYZ I was chosen to interview. I have chosen to attend another university and would like to withdraw my application.

Sincerely,
You

If you are sure you're going to go to MSU, why waste your time and money...and Bradenton's time as well.

Schools appreciate that you let them know as soon as possible if you want to withdrawal your application because you'll be attending another school, it's not like they take it personally.

If there are some other schools that you have applied to, and you have put a deposit down at MSU withdraw from them as well. It'll open up a spot for the rest of us!

You dont know if the school is where you want to go or not. If you arent sure, then go for teh interview. You may find that you like the other school more than your choice currently. If you decide not to go, you can call them to cancel. I called all the schools where I was cancelling and said I accpeted another amissions and thanked them for considering me. That is all you have to do. It is done all the time.
