Declined from Tufts...low RC score?

I was just notified that I am going to be declined due to my low RC score of 16. (Minimum is 17). They requested for me to retake the DAT, but there is simply not enough time for this cycle. Are many other schools like this? All of my other scores are okay. I got 20AA, 21TS, 22QR, 23OC,21GC, 23PAT,19BIO. I just ran out of time on the RC portion and guessed on the last 10 questions, I CAN read...haha.

I am pretty bummed because I was looking forward to Tufts.

The RC is such a hit and miss section and there is no real way to prepare for it.

How is your GPA? If you have a decent GPA, I do not see a reason for you to not get many more interviews.

On the Side note: It seems like Tuft is rejecting alot of people while they have not even give out ONE interview YET.

I know for a fact IU will not interview anyone with under an 18 RC. I'm not sure about any other schools though. Your other scores are AWESOME! Congrats. I'm sure you'll land a few interviews.

To ttdmd, They didn't officially decline me. But they told me that I do not meet their DAT requirements and that I need to retake. They told me that my application will be on hold until then, so basically I am declined.

My cGPA is 3.55, bcpGPA 3.68, and sGPA is 3.61. I hope I can still get a couple interviews. I am a really late applicant, and I am sure AADSAS is working hard...but its taking them months to send out some things.

I wouldn't retake it either just yet, You have strong overall numbers. One 16 shouldn't automatically get you rejected from all schools.

i just heard recently in lecture that schools like high bio and RC scores because they somewhat predict your success in dental school.

they really don't care about math and chem from what i heard.

makes sense though. a high RC score means that you're able to understand quickly what you read which is a crucial skill in dental school.

I was told the same as dl9006 but by a UMDNJ adcom who was interviewing me. She said they look favorably upon hi RC scores because it shows direct correlation to success at D school apparently because it measures your ability to read and process new information.

What's considered a high RC? I'm hoping mine's ok.
