I have checked the "decline" box on the OSU card and have been sitting on it for weeks. I've been receiving info from them about scholarships and FAFSA and I feel obligated to fill it out even though I know I'm not going... oh well... might as well mail that card today.

banditalfi - good to know im not the only one. I sent my email so you should to it to - send the card! its tough its crazy...idk why its such a big deal but it is! 😛
 
I keep putting it off, because I feel bad. But when I get the official mail info from Penn VMD/PhD I am definitely going to mail in my declines for the other schools...hopefully freeing up some spots for people!
 
I had a VERY hard time declining admission at Auburn. Even though, VMRCVM were my first choice, I really loved Auburn, and they were so nice! I felt like I was betraying them by saying "No, Thanks"😀 Two things made it easier: realization of how much I'd have to borrow in private loans to afford going OOS and realization that the sooner I decline admission, the sooner someone else can get a chance to get in.
 
Declined interviews at Pudue and Auburn.

Declined admission at Washington State as a WICHE Student
 
Canceled my interview with Purdue this Friday

I'm giving some thought to withdrawing from Penn, only because it is so very very very very very expensive. On the other hand, it is also so very very very very very good. Will let you all know if/when I do!
 
I'll probably be declining Illinois and Iowa...I'll confirm once I do though!
 
I am an alternate for Missouri....Does anyone know anything about me chances of getting in as an alternate? They are my first choice....so I am very anxious! 😍 Is anyone planning on declining a Missouri acceptance??

Hey there, I am assuming since you are from PA that you are OOS (I'm from PA too). I got into Mizzou last year off wait list in April. When I interviewed last year a student told me they went through 50 people on the OOS waitlist, but then again I've heard it varies greatly year to year. I know another student from PA who got in off waitlist sometime during the summer. Being waitlisted is definitely a good thing! I was waitlisted at 3 schools last year, was accepted to 2 and withdrew from the 3rd to go to Mizzou!
 
Thanks for your post Ratbandit. I've been curious about how many have been accepted off of the alternate list too, but I keep forgetting to ask. It's nice to know that I've got a chance. I think the waiting is about to kill me though:scared:

Is there any way that I can declin admission at VMRCVM? The letter has no form, it just says to mail a deposit by April 15, but I want to decline before that so that other people can take my spot. What do I do?
 
I'll be removing myself from the Wisconsin and Washington waitlists (OOS for both) in the next few days, hope that helps someone to move on up!
 
I declined my admission to Ohio this week, and will be removing myself from the Wisconsin wait-list (OOS for both) this week as well. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear.
 
All right, I mailed my declines to Ohio and Wisconsin (OOS for both) and emailed my decline to VMRCVM. Hope some of you get good news calls!
 
As soon as my Dad lets me (lol), I'll be gracefully declining my Kansas State admission. Good luck to those of you on the waitlist! 🙂
 
I've decided to decline Minnesota (OOS). And I removed myself from the Wisconsin waitlist (for those counting spaces, my waitlist # is in the teens)

I'm declining Tufts and Michigan. It kills me...but at least I know I'll make someone extremely happy when they get taken off a waitlist and accepted!

I just found out I made it into A&M so I will be removing myself from the Missouri alternate list. I was number 26. I hope that helps someone! 🙂

I will be declining my OOS Kansas State admission as well as my OOS Michigan State admission. I will also be declining my UPenn interview. Good luck to all thos still waiting!!! 🙂

Yeah, hopefully this will help you get off the waitlist! I loved the school, it was beautiful and I can't really find a single negative thing to say about it, but the offer from A&M (in-state tuition and a great school) is just too good to pass up! 🙂 I'm looking forward to hearing about your acceptance! 🙂

I will be declining Edinburgh this week.
 
I sent declines to Tufts (OOS) and WSU (OOS) and an OOS Florida interview. I hope this opens up some spots...
 
I will be declining acceptances to Kansas and Illinois next week (just accepted an offer to attend Minnesota). Good luck to those on wait-lists for either of these schools!
 
I am sending in my decline letter to Minnesota today. It just feels so wrong to decline a vet school when the last two years have been consumed with getting into a vet school. It is a super program too, but 42K a year is too rich for my blood. Hope this helps someone out there!
 
I will be declining admission to Mississippi, and getting off the alternate list at both Iowa (number 58), and Illinois.

Thanks to everyone who got in and now declining other positions. I am on 2 wait lists (no acceptances) and am bouncing from depressed, to nervous, to hopeless, to hopeful. I keep checking hoping to see more people declining invitations to Purdue and Kansas State. The worst part is not knowing where you are in the lists. Aggghhhhhh!

Sorry, just needed to vent to people who understand.

How are you going to do that?? I need to do that as well but there is no form to send back that came in the acceptance packet. Are you just going to email Yvonne? Thanks!
 
I declined Tufts and Cornell today, and will call to decline NCSU's DVM/PhD tomorrow (all OOS). 🙁. I didn't know it would be this hard to do the deed. I kept on looking at my emails and letters (I did both) with tremendous sadness, and had trouble forcing myself to push the button/seal the envelope!

It makes me happy, though, to think of others getting admitted soon off waitlists, etc.

I'm sure it's really hard. I haven't done any yet. But just think, you're that much closer to a decision and to vet school! Yay! (As are others now, because of you, as you pointed out. Yay there too 🙂)

Just found out that I'm an alternate for Western. Does anyone know what my odds are of getting in this fall? 😕
Are there any western maltriculants that are considering going to another school or any western alts who are declining their alternate status?

i just emailed her...she did ask for me to tell her why, which i wasnt expecting....i just told her why honestly & she really appreciated it. i think they want to know so they can try to make improvements or whatever...not that they need to.
 
I mailed my KSU letter today. Declined their offer. One more OOS position open for you waitlisters. Good Luck!!!! 🙂
 
I just declined the crap out of OSU and CSU (not in an aggressive way, I just told them I wasn't going). I'm still waiting to hear what I was on the CSU waitlist... we'll see how that one goes...

Also, for Penn is there a thing to send back to decline, or should I just call them up and let them know? Whaaaaaaaaaatever.

Memo to Cornell: Please send me more info so I can buy a new computer, car, house, phone, etc. I need a new life. /end mininervousbreakdown.

Hahaha...that LITERALLY made me laugh out loud...in the middle of my living room, with my mom and dog sitting there in total silence.

I just got looked at (by both the mom AND the dog) like I was totally nuts. :laugh:
