Hey all, so my application cycle is going well enough that I don't want to interview at a specific DO school who invited me for an interview in a few weeks. I was hesitant of applying to this DO school in the first place, so when I got an MD interview slot opening for that same day, I grabbed it without a second thought. I have NOT gotten into any MD/DO schools yet but I am currently on the road with 2 DO interviews completed and at least 5 MD interviews (will be) completed by end of this month.

Given my specific situation, would you suggest it's safe for me to email this specific DO school and tell them I'm not interested to interview at their place anymore? I guess I'm feeling a bit paranoid that they mimght communicate with the current DO schools I'm waiting to hear back from (yeah nvm, it's totally paranoid, I get it haha). But anyway, at this point I really don't feel like interviewing at this specific school and so would prefer to let them know as early as possible so someone else can grab that interview spot. Thoughts?

Congrats and good luck on the MD interviews!

It's def safe for you to turn down the DO interview. They have no clue where you've interviewed so far so they wouldn't know who to contact. And I think it's per the AACOMAS agreement/contract that that sort of communication is the occur at the end of the cycle.

I understand the paranoia though, I spent a good 30 minutes staring at my email to turn down the ii thinking they would be able to call the school that accepted me and say "reject this bastard".

Personally, I would keep going on interviews until I have at least one acceptance, but it's really up to you. If you honestly don't want to go to this school for whatever reason, then do yourself and them and other applicants a favor and turn it down.

Just send them an email declining the interview. You could also push it back to a later date if you don't want to lose it. I did that with one school and then later declined after I got accepted elsewhere. I also called another school the day before an interview to cancel. They really don't care. Their classes will still fill up.

Decline it. If you were hesitant in the beginning, then give it to someone who is DYING to be interview there. Goodluck with your MD interviews. I declined 2 interviews, and im content with my decisions.

I think you should decline it, considering you would've interviewed at 7 other schools you'd rather attend. The odds are in your favor. Congrats on your success this cycle.

Great, all your comments were really helpful. Thanks a lot guys!!!

If I were you, I'd ask them for a later interview date and then turn it down until you actually have an acceptance on hand. Always play it safe.

Its totally fine dude. I declined 4 and got no grief from nobody.

DO schools do NOT talk to each other, nor to MD schools. Nor would the MD schools talk to each other about this particular thing.

So chill.
