I am planning to decline my interview for MWU and was wondering what was a professional/polite way to do so after cancelling my appointment through the online booking system. Email? Phone call?

I don't think you need to do anything more than cancelling through the portal.

I would cancel the interview on the portal and then send them an email stating that you would like to withdraw your application (if that is your intention). Just a quick "thank you for considering me".
