Im having a hard time thinking of a way to decline a offer. I think I'm just scared lol. The school I am declining has been very good to me and I had multiple visits with the counselor already. I feel as though they already got to know me personally. An offer came up that I can not resist. What is the best way to break the news?

A phone call to the counselor and a follow-up thank you letter (for considering you). It's hard saying no, especially if you've established a relationship with the program director post-acceptance. The first "no" was the hardest for me, then they got easier. Stay classy at all times though. Good luck!

All schools maintain a waiting list, so your giving up a seat will help out another deserving candidate. If you think about it that way, declining an offer becomes a bit easier (it worked for me).

I would just email them. The sooner, the better. Getting declines is just a process every program goes through... I think they would appreciate a quick note from you so they can move on to the next applicant.

Congratulations on your acceptance and Good luck!
