I have to send a few emails to decline my offers at the dental schools that didn't send papers to sign and send back...anyone have to do this yet?? Who do I make the email out to? The dean of admissions, or just "the admissions committee"....just let me know if you've done this yet. Thanks!

PS- I chose Maryland!! anyone else accept there yet??

Send the email to the dean of admissions...his or her name should be posted on their website or on the bottom of your acceptance letter. You can send the letter via email to him or to his assistant. However, they most likely want the letter sent via the US Postal Service. This way they have a hard copy for your file.

Dear _______;

I regret to inform you that I have chosen another dental school to attend over yours. Given the unusual number of highly qualified dental schools offering me admission this year, it's fair to say that competition was quite fierce. I wish you luck in filling the remainder of seats in your class.

Nice. I was so tempted to say that.

To the OP:I ended up calling the schools instead of emaling.

Hahahaha.........
Hey sister, if you do not have a copyright on this letter, may i use it?
I love it!!!!!

I usually started out with pointing the good qualities of that school.
Then I said how hard I came up with the decision to decline.
And state the school that i want to go to and why.

Not sure if they care about how we write, but I usually get some really good replies back telling me that I am a good student and wish me a bright future etc... and they will process my declination. (note, if adcom is willing to send u replies, i feel those are some caring schools such as UCSF and UPenn.)

Sweet - I love it! 😀

Do i have to send a letter saying I am not going ?? I thought if i do not send deposit, they will automatically remove me from their acceptance list. no? yes?

by the way, happy new year everyone. What a great way to start a new year! For people who are still waiting, keep up your hopes!!! wish you luck.

Its always better to decline the schools that you know you don't want right away. It opens up seats to other students who are border line or on the wait list. Just put yourself in someones shoes that was put on hold. As soon as you know (be absolutely sure you don't want to go there) then send a letter. Others will appreciate it a lot

I dont think you need to send a letter/email. But it is best to stay on good terms with the schools out there if you want to specialize.

OMG this is so FUNNY!

To the OP:

I sent X-mass cards saying thanks so much for taking the time to interview mee and that I wanted them to know my choice so the could offer the position so someone else.

:luck:

you guys are so funny. look, you dont have to tell them why and what. all you have to do is tell them you have decided to go somewhere else.

i just wrote them saying i had been accepted at a prestigious school where i have decided to go. as simple as that.
