Has anyone deffered their acceptance to Temple? What was it like and was it hard to do?

I don't know if I can help you much but I deferred my acceptance to Scholl and to tell you the truth they were very nice about it and very prompt in getting me a response. I was accepted to Scholl in January and I have been trying to sell my house ever since. So emailed the recruiter for the school and asked her what I needed to do to defer my acceptance. She said all I needed to do was to write a letter to the committee explaining why I wanted to defer and I had to give some reasoning behind my request. Also they wanted to know what I plan on doing over the next year if granted the opportunity to defer. I am enrolled in an online masters program at UNC-Chapel Hill and I told them that is what I would do. Within a week I received a letter granting my entrance to Scholl in 2008. It wasn't bad at all. So all I can say for you is that if you have a good reason I don't see Temple giving you any problems.

thanks! that def. helps!!

do you have to pay or put down part of a deposit to defer?

have any of you been denied a defference request? what woudl happen then you wouldn't even be able to start this year then or would they let you still start this year but not next year? I guess they can't really take back their offer of a seat for school this year, right?

also, what kind of time limit do schools usually put on how soon you have to accept or defer?

when i was offered Cali, Ohio and Temple, they gave me about 4 weeks from the date on the offer letter to accept a seat.

I believe Scholl was either 2 weeks or 3 weeks to accept, can't remember.

But I do know that if you are in the middle of interviews you should let them know. Because a deadline to accept a seat may come up during your interviewing, as in my case. I didn't want to lose an acceptance at one school, trying to wait for another school's decision to accept me.

Sometimes they may ask if you are interviewing at other schools. Plus, they should know that people have multiple interviews and try to let you know something as soon as possible about your admission. There's nothing wrong with asking how long it will take for a decision. A few of the schools will let you know on your interview day of your acceptance.

Try to have your file complete, so that the admissions committee can make quicker decisions.
