If you got a deferment from school X, and during the deferment period, you enrolled in a postbacc program without letting them know, would school X revoke acceptance or dismiss you when they found out? (The reason for enrolling in postbacc is to try for a conditional acceptance to "dream school" Y).

Most schools only will offer deferrals under the condition that the student deferred cannot apply to any schools for the next cycle.

So to answer your question... If you defer for a year and reapply, yes, your acceptance will probably be rescinded.

In this case, you're not reapplying to other schools, but you've been accepted to a postbacc program that offered a conditional acceptance to school Y.

I still think this would be a good reason to rescind an acceptance, but I don't know. It's possible that school X could make you sign something that says you are not eligible to enroll in any American med schools the next year. Schools want to give someone else's spot for next year only if they know that student will for sure be attending. Honesty is the key here. There are horror stories that float around which would make me wary to deceive a school like this.

+1 ^^^

That is idiotic and completely disrespectful to an individual who would have loved to get an acceptance to the first school.
