deferable loans

i'm kind of clueless in this area but are all loans deferable as long as you're in school? if not, which loans are specifically deferable?

Federal loans such as Stafford loans and Perkins loans can be defered while you are in school at least half time. For private loans, it depends on the terms of the loan. There are hardship deferments available during residency for federal loans but there are specific eligibility requirements for those.

since i'm not going through an official program, i doubt of i would qualify for any federal loan (ie stafford loan).

do you know of independent lenders that specifically allow deferment?
