I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience (or knew of anyone) who had been accepted and deferred their enrollment to the following year. More specifically, I'd like to hear about this with UF, Colorado, USC (Southern Cal), and any southeastern schools. If it's happened with other schools, I'd still like to hear about it too.

If you wouldn't mind sharing your full experience with your school and reason for deferment I would really appreciate it. The reason being, I would like to take a year off and take part of the year to become fully fluent in Spanish (live in Central America possibly) before I begin my dental career.

By the way, please don't post on this if you're going to be a negative nancy and say "no way, you're lazy" and blah blah. That's not the case. I'm a very dedicated student and would like to do this before I begin dental school.

Thanks in advance! 👍😀

I've heard of students that were granted a deferral for programs like Fulbright, but I haven't heard of any schools that granted deferred enrollment for a student to take a personal year off to travel/learn languages/etc. Your best bet is to contact those schools beforehand. You also have the option to take a year off and apply for enrollment the following year.

What bride/groom would not want to wait for you at the altar, while you learn the South American art of serenading?
