Hi everyone,
I just got a 2 year postbac position at the NIH, and I think I'm gonna take the job.
My state school will not accept my 2014 MCAT after the 2016 cycle and it's actually my top choice due to cost/location. My state school admits a lot of people via ED and I think with my stats, assuming I don't totally blow the interview, I would get it.
The benefit of doing ED is that 1. I'm like 90% sure this is the school I would go to even if I did apply elsewhere and 2. I would get to pick my campus. The state is Indiana and to be honest I wouldn't want any other city except for Indianapolis and maybe bloomington.
TLDR - I want to apply ED this cycle but defer a year - do you guys think that would be possible? I can't apply to my state school ED or regular decision next year unless I take the new MCAT and my current score is actually good and I would rather not take the new one if I don't have to. I really want to do the IRTA program since my state schools research doesn't seem to be that great (good for primary care though - which is my goal).
Obligatory Stats: 3.9 GPA, 35 MCAT, 250 hours clinical volunteering, 120 hours shadowing, 150 hours non clinical volunteering, 1000+ hours of research and a 1st author publication in JACS, other small roles in clubs- no leadership positions
